High-Harmonic Injection-Based Brushless Wound Field Synchronous Machine Topology

This paper discusses the design and analysis of a high-harmonic injection-based field excitation scheme for brushless operation wound synchronous machines (WFSMs) in order to achieve higher efficiency. The proposed involves two inverters. One these inverters provides three-phase fundamental-harmonic current armature winding, whereas second inverter injects single-phase i.e., 6th harmonic this case, neutral-point Y-connected winding. injection winding develops magnetomotive force (MMF) air gap machine beside fundamental. MMF induces rotor, fundamental main field. is rectified inject direct (DC) into rotor fields, when interacting with each other, produce torque. Finite element (FEA) carried out develop 4-pole 24-slot investigate it using both attain analyze its electromagnetic performance. Later on, performance topology compared typical WFSM employing 3rd scheme.
